P.G.E. Abdira Thrace
Limnio(50%), Syrah(30%), Pamidi(20%)
This wine got the name "Abdiros", from the son of the god Hermes, from Opunda of Locris. According to Greek mythology, the demigod Heracles built the city of Abdira in Thrace in memory of his friend, Abdira, when he was killed in battle with the wild horses of the Thracian king, Diomedes. The label depicts, characteristically, the wild horse of Thrace.
Abdiros Erythros is a special blend of two Greek varieties (the oldest Greek variety Limnio meets the rare Pamidi) and a foreign variety (the French Syrah). Syrah gives primary aromas of red fruits, which impart freshness, while Limnio, aged in barrel for 8-12 months, imparts peppery aromas, as well as notes of cocoa and tobacco. The mouth of the wine is smooth, with soft tannins and moderate acidity.
A full wine with a pleasant finish.
