Recipes and Ideas for the Lambri Table
Easter in Greece is a family celebration, joyful and delicious. It is the day when young and old gather around a table full of flavors, aromas and traditions. The lamb or the kokoretsi are without a doubt the protagonists, but... the magic is also hidden in the accompaniments.
In this article, we'll give you ideas for side dishes that "tie" with lamb and chicken and make the festive table even more enjoyable. They're all easy, tried-and-tested, and full of flavor.
Baked potatoes with lemon and oregano
Classic and beloved. Cut them into large pieces, toss with plenty of olive oil, fresh lemon, oregano, and a little mustard. Bake them slowly with the meat or on their own — they will become Turkish delight.
Spring village salad with katiki or mizithra cheese
Instead of the usual feta, try adding katiki or mizithra to a refreshing salad with tomato, cucumber, red onion and olives. It will pair wonderfully with the lamb and bring balance to the table.
Pie with greens and herbs
A pie made with seasonal greens (spinach, lathyrus, chard) or even just with herbs such as dill, fennel and fresh spring onions, brings the aroma of Spring to the Easter table.
Bulgur with cherry tomatoes, olives and lemon
Light, refreshing and filling. The bulgur boils in a few minutes and can be served hot or cold. Add cherry tomatoes, olives, herbs and a little lemon — a pleasant surprise next to lamb or chicken.
Tzatziki or homemade garlic sauce
If you love strong flavors, try garlic soup with potatoes or bread. If you want something cooler, mix yogurt with cucumber, garlic and mint – it goes great with any meat.
Easter is a celebration. It's smells that remind you of childhood, sun on your face, voices and laughter around the table. And we at Siakos.gr want to be by your side with the highest quality ingredients — so you can create the most delicious Easter table.
