Skinless or skinless chicken? What's the difference in fat?

If you love chicken, then you've probably wondered: should I cook it with the skin on or remove it? The truth is that both options have their pros and cons, especially when it comes to nutritional value and – of course – fat. Let's take a closer look, so you can choose what best suits your diet and taste preferences.

🍗 With skin: Crispy and tasty, but with more fat
Chicken skin adds intensity to the flavor and a wonderfully crispy texture, especially if cooked properly (in the oven or pan). However, it contains more saturated and total fat – something that is good to be aware of if you are watching your diet.

👉 How much more?
A grilled piece of chicken with the skin has about 40-50% more fat than the same piece without the skin.

🍽 Skinless: "Lighter", ideal for diet and healthy eating
If you remove the skin before cooking, you significantly reduce your fat and calorie intake – without sacrificing flavor, especially if you cook it properly with herbs, lemon, mustard, or tomato.

💡 Tip:
If you remove the skin after roasting, you've already removed some of the fat during cooking. For best results, remove it before it goes into the oven or pot.
