Are we defrosting our food properly? How many of us haven't tried to quickly defrost our meat to cook after forgetting to take it out of the freezer the day before? An inappropriate method of defrosting, however, can be dangerous, as the difference in temperatures may introduce bacteria.
But let's look at the 4 most common mistakes we make when defrosting meat:
Defrost the meat at room temperature
Many people thaw their meat at room temperature. However, this is wrong as the temperature difference from freezing to room temperature is large and so the product will not defrost smoothly.
Thaw the meat in hot water
At least a prohibited method, since it favors the growth of bacteria.
Defrost the meat in the microwave
One method, not so wrong, however, by putting the meat in the microwave oven to thaw, we run the risk of it being cooked on the outside, leaving the inside uncooked, making it difficult to cook it afterwards.
Put meat that has already been thawed back into the freezer
Meat that has been defrosted DOES NOT go back into the freezer! The only solution is to enter the maintenance of the refrigerator and that for a very short time!
