Minced meat is a type of ground meat and is a key ingredient in the cooking of many different dishes. Its origin is probably Persian or Arabic and can be derived from various types of meat, including beef, pork, lamb, chicken and turkey. In Greece, the most widespread and most frequently used is ground beef.

Minced meat

Minced beef : a classic choice of Greek households, due to its mild smell. Its nutritional value does not differ from that of fresh beef. It is a type of minced meat rich in high quality proteins, vitamins and minerals. Of all types of ground beef, beef is the most expensive.

Minced pork : not used as much as beef, and usually mixed with beef. It is a more economical type of minced meat.

Minced chicken & turkey : types of minced meat that are mainly used in a healthier diet, due to their low fat content. Due to their very mild taste, they are usually accompanied by enough herbs and spices to enhance their taste.

Minced lamb : minced lamb is not particularly used in Greek cooking, as it has a distinctly stronger smell than the previous types. It is a type of minced meat that is more suitable for oriental recipes.
